Gay men are getting HIV in Australia at a rate not seen for 20 years. If we are to stem the growing tide of HIV infections we must try to understand why it is happening and how?
“Experiences of HIV” is the Kirby Institute’s Annual Report studying HIV Seroconversion. With the release of the 2013 edition having just taken place, Dean Beck goes ‘on location’ to The Kirby Institute‘s Darlinghurst office in Sydney to speak to the study’s co-author and project manager, Ian Down.
Highlighting the importance of this work, Ian reveals some of the challenges that impact the current HIV response in Australia. How these factors continue to affect individuals and communities around the nation is often framed by ongoing stigma associated with HIV. Understanding that is just the start!
